Meet Dr. Vickie Shields

Dr. Vickie Shields is a certified Life/Career/Executive Coach. Throughout her 30-year career in Higher Education, she has mentored and advised hundreds of students, colleagues and friends in both formal and informal settings. She is the former Provost and Executive Vice President at Nevada State University.

Vickie has served as a Professor of Communication, Director of a Women’s Studies Program, and Dean of Social Sciences and Social Work. She is the former President of the Council of Colleges of Arts and Sciences (CCAS), the leading national organization of arts and sciences deans.

She received her M.A. and PhD degrees from the Ohio State University where she was awarded The Ohio State University Presidential Fellowship. Her B.A. is from Boise State University who named her BSU Alumna of the Year in 2005. In that same year she completed the Management Development Program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Dr. Shields is the author of Measuring Up: How Advertising Affects Self Image, winner of best book by the Visual Communication Division of the National Communication Association. In 2019 she was awarded the prestigious, “Iconic Woman of Distinction Award” in the category of Education by the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO).
